San Diego's Comic-Con International

Every summer, the San Diego Convention Center plays host to Comic-Con International, billed as "the largest convention devoted to the popular arts in the United States." The convention is actually two events in one - a trade show for members of the comic industry and a chance for fans to meet some of their favorite writers and artists. The 2001 show was no exception.

Since San Diego was also the production home of the SciFi Channel series, The Invisible Man, the cast and writing crew dropped by Comic-Con to talk and clown around with the fans.
Author and artist Terry Moore describes the joys of creating his acclaimed comic book series, Strangers in Paradise.

Actress, writer and filmmaker Amber Benson spent a busy day at the convention. A traffic tie-up prevented her scheduled appearance at a panel on women in comics, and to make up her absence to the fans, she joined actor/singer Andy Hallett at the convention's karaoke pavilion (left). Later, she greeted her fans at the Dark Horse Comics pavilion, sharing the autograph table with writer Jane Espenson.
