Filming a Stunt for Buffy the Vampire Slayer

Picture the scene - an enormous cobra-headed monster slithers around a corner and down a suburban street. A car screeches into view in hot pursuit, with "Watcher" Rupert Giles at the wheel and Vampire Slayer Buffy Summers in the passenger seat. The monster veers off the road and smashes through a chainlink fence. Giles pulls up to the curb and Buffy jumps out, running through the hole in the fence to continue her pursuit.

That's what the viewers saw on TV, but on a late October night near Santa Monica, California, the scene was very different. There was no cobra-headed monster - it would be added in later through computer animation. Stagehands would pull the fence down instead, and stunt performers would drive the car and leap out of it. Even so, it still made for an interesting scene.
